Books

You can find a great deal of art information in the electronic databases and on the Web. However Web screen resolutions and monitor colors will give you a false idea about what you are seeing. If you serious about art there is no substitute for seeing a color plate in print. We have several thousand art and art history books in the J. D. Williams Library. Most are located on the 2nd Floor. Browsing through your subject area is the best way to get a sense of what we have. Call number ranges in the visual arts are as follows:

• NE: Print Media
• NK: Decorative Arts, Ceramics
• NX: Arts in General

Oversize Books It is not uncommon for art books to be large. Oversize books will be noted in the catalog. Oversize art books in the N class are currently being shifted but will soon be located on the 2nd Floor in the main study area adjacent to the elevators. Please ask for assistance at either the reference desk or the circulation desk if you need help locating an oversize book.
