Brown Bag: "Women in Politics: The Archival Record in Special Collections"

Faulkner Room, Archives & Special Collections, 3rd floor J.D. Williams Library

12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Audience members are encouraged to bring their lunches to a panel discussion on women in politics. Collections to be discussed include those related to a Mississippi suffragist, women in southern state legislatures, and the Mississippi Division of the League of Women Voters. Panelists include Political Papers Archivist Leigh McWhite, former University of Mississippi provost Carolyn Staton, and League of Women Voters officer Fran Leber.

Brown Bag: “Tell Every President to Listen to the Blues”: Presidents, Politics, and the Blues

Audience members are encouraged to bring their lunch to hear Blues Archivist Greg Johnson and Highway 61 radio host Scott Barretta play sound clips and discuss blues lyrics that comment on presidents and politics.

Brown Bag: "History Lives in Mississippi: Creating the Presidential Debate Collection"

12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Audience members are invited to bring debate-related material (documents, files, photographs, recordings, clippings, ephemera, and memorabilia) they wish to donate to the Presidential Debate Collection. Dr. Andy Mullins, Executive Assistant to the Chancellor, will discuss the university's application and planning for the debate; Dr. David Sansing will place the event in the context of university history; and Dr. Andy Harper will play footage of oral interviews and other debate recordings.
